Safety First
Parking...
Please do not block any roads or the event stages by parking badly. Most of the delays experienced in the running of a rally are due to spectator traffic jams and bad parking. Please park off the road. Do not park in or obstruct any private driveways or roads. Avoid parking at the start and finish of special stages, these must be kept clear at all times. Finally, remember other road users and the general public. DRIVE SLOWLY, DRIVE CAREFULLY.
Course Vehicles...
The rally cars will be preceded on the special stages by the Official Course Vehicles.
The Clerk of Course & Opening Marshal will drive through the stage to ensure spectators are standing in safe places and warn them that the special stage is now ‘live’ and they can expect rally cars at any moment. Car 0 (if there is one) travels at competition speed and when it appears the stage becomes officially ‘live’. The stage will be officially closed when spectators see the Closing Marshal vehicle drive through the course. Please do not walk or drive onto the course until the stage has been officially closed.
Motorsport is Dangerous!!!!
Please heed the advice and warnings of the Marshals, the Event Officials and the Jamaica Constabulary (Police) Force.
Don't...
• Stand too close to the stage road
• Play games with your safety or that of the drivers
• Stand in prohibited areas
• Sit close to the edge of the stage/track
• Be distracted
• Be the one to stop the stage
Always...
• Expect the unexpected
• Listen for approaching cars
• Remain alert
• Leave yourself room to move quickly
• Keep children under supervision
• Do as the marshals ask
Please protect...
• Yourself
• Others around you
• The stage you are spectating
• Rallying
• Motorsports
Be sure that..
• The unexpected can happen
• If you ignore the marshal’s instruction the stage will be stopped
STAND WHERE ITS SAFE!:
Please study the diagrams carefully, and do not stand in any of the red shaded areas.
Being in those areas is dangerous and could cause delays or the cancellation of the stage.
Pick your vantage point carefully. High on a hill or behind the tree line is best. The worst place to stand is on the outside of a corner or in the ditch. Rally drivers make creative use of the whole road.
Again listen to the marshals. They know the safe spots. You must remain behind the Banner tape at all times.
